Violence Prevention
SWFLC believes that prevention activities are a vital part of its mission to end violence and build healthy families. When we reach teens in their early and most formative years, we are hopeful that we can instill healthy habits in relationships and prevent abuse later in life. We participate in multiple events throughout the year with community partners to provide safe spaces for children and teens, including summer camps and other public events.
Our Teen Advocate is also available for children and teens experiencing domestic, family, or sexual violence as a supporter and encourager, as well as a link to further resources within our community.
Advocates also encourage youth participation by presenting a curriculum at local high schools, as well as engaging them in monthly awareness events like Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
